Ultra and Dowty Ultra Hydraulic Pumps & Motors are now all obsolete. They were taken over by Parker Hannifin. Their series of gear pumps and motors have now been replaced by Parker products which we can supply. Fortunately they are interchangeable units! Parker fixed displacement gear pumps displace oil by means of one driven gear & one idler gear meshing together. The two gears displace oil in their gear teeth notches from the suction port to pressure port. The displacement of the gear pump is a combination of the size / diameter of the gear plus the width of the unit, so fixed displacement pumps will deliver oil flow in direct relation to their swept volume and their rotational speed.

High pressure fluid is present in operational hydraulic systems. Fluids under high pressure are dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. Do not make modifications, repairs or adjustments to any hydraulic system unless you are competent or working under competent supervision. If in doubt consult a qualified technician or engineer.
Temperature
Oil temperature should be between +30ºC & +60ºC during normal operation. Oil life is greatly reduced if temperature exceeds 60ºC. As a general rule, oil life is halved for each 8ºC temperature exceeds 60ºC.
Filtering
It is necessary to keep the level of contamination within a hydraulic system at an acceptable level to ensure trouble free operation. Filtration should always be specified at a level that protects the most sensitive item or component in the system |
